A selection of typical projects follows:
South
East Food Group Partnership's PSFPI Strategy - assessment
of public sector opportunities for local food producers in the South East including
surveys of producer involvement and identification of barriers to entry. Study
resulted in three pilot projects being developed to supply niche commodities to
public sector organisations in the region. Food,
People and Place - an on-going project for the Coountryside Agency, to
pilot in three locations a process to link conservation of the landscape with
local food systems. Pilot communities at a parish level are developing action
plans. London Hospitals Project
feasibility study for St Georges hospital in London, prior to development
of the current London Food Links project. This included identifying potential
suppliers in the London hinterland, reviewing menus and advising on contractual
issues with regard to low volume direct supply contracts. West
Midlands: evaluation of local food initiatives contract for Advantage
West Midlands carried out with University of Warwick and Centre for Food Policy,
City University. Research and stakeholder dialogue to evaluate the impact of LFIs
on local health, community, environment and economy. This included the use of
the five capital assets to assess impacts, including use of the LM3 local multiplier
tool, which was then used to model impacts based on an inputs/outputs/outcome
framework. Research included in-depth interviews with all relevant policy and
funding organisations to assess the effectiveness of public sector support frameworks. Yorkshire
and Humberside Local Products Strategy and Action Plan an action
plan developed through the participation of the complete spectrum of interests
in local food. Promoting Local
Food in Oxfordshire a strategy and action plan supported by health,
regeneration, farming and community organisations - developed from the farmers
market network in the county. Regional
Branding Study for Taste of the West and SW Regional Development Agency
a survey of producers and processors to assess interest in regional branding
and create the framework for the development of a new regional food and drink
trade development organisation. South
East Farmers Market Study for the Countryside Agency a review
and evaluation jointly with Land Use Consultants including a survey of producers,
consumers and market organisers to assess the contribution of markets to regional
priorities. Soil Association
Food Futures programme f3 consultants were involved in workshop
design and facilitation for projects in Calderdale & Kirklees, Cumbria, Isle
of Skye, Leicestershire and East London. Local
produce and village shops a review of good practice in local sourcing
by village shops, leading to guidance for the Vital Villages team of the Countryside
Agency |
